What is an E-scooter?

An E-scooter is a motorized mobility device with two wheels. A platform called a deck and handlebars for steering. E-scooters are very different from non-motorized scooters because of the addition of batteries, electronics, and electric motors.

While most scooters require standing on the deck to ride, some can be converted to a sit-down E-scooter with optional accessories.

Most of the E-scooters on the market today are adult models. They differ from children’s E-scooters because E-scooters have greater weight-bearing capacity, taller bars, larger batteries, larger decks, and more powerful motors.

How does the E-scooter work?

When you use the throttle, an electrical signal is sent from the throttle to the controller via a wire, and the controller instructs the battery to release electrical energy to the motor in the wheel. The motor can then convert the energy into wheel movement and drive the scooter forward.

The E-scooter cannot go backward. It only has the function of going forward. Controlled by the throttle, the E-scooter has one or more brakes, which can help the scooter to slow down or stop.
